Welcome, Game Designers of Los Angeles!

Hey all, TGC has changed slightly. Every meeting of TGC (we're gearing up slowly, to eventually meet once a week on Saturday) will be focused towards getting games designed! Every meeting will see groups of designers coming together and putting an idea on paper and, by the end of the meeting, play-testing it.

I'm looking for people who are 18 and older, who are looking seriously at Game Design as something they'd like to pursue as a career or hobby. All designs will be posted on thegamecookery.com after the meetings under a Creative Commons license.

Let's work some magic, shall we?

~ Rob L.

If you're really interested in learning how to flush your game design thoughts out in an organized fashion, join this group. ...

The people at the meetup were engaging, social and happy to include others. Anyone who is serious about Game Design specifically would find this meetup of interest.

    March 6th meetup, because I didn't bring a notebook

"I hope this isn't too self-serving, but since a single copy of my design document was all I brought with me (wasn't sure what all i shoudl brign for my first time) I didn't have any way to write down the feedback I got. ... MoreI remember the things about some kind of desperation move form the artifact just before player death. I've been playing around with that one in my head (where everythign rolls around before makign it to the word processor) and trying to make it work without granting a big enough advantage that it removes the need to dro teh artifact and recharge it's energy reserves. But I digress. As I'm attempting to get some kind of playable prototype together for next week or the week after's meeting I'd like to incorporate that feedback into the process, otherwise today's meeting didn't accomplish the intended goal in regards to my design. So yeah...If you rememebr what thoughts you had on "Artifact" better than I do, just post them here or email 'em to me. Chances are more of it will start coming back as I think about it, but I don't want to miss anything and then force someone to repeat themself at the next meeting. (I can send you a copy of the design document if you'd like too. I know my explanation left a lot of stuff out, and I may even make changes from the last time you saw it) "

Non-Meetup Emails to Stop for The Game Cookery

"Announce Much? Hello to all 67 members of The Game Cookery. As many of you have seen, our main website, thegamecookery.com, has recently been updated. Yes, it looks swift, and yes, it looks radically fancy. These are indisputable facts. ... MoreDon't even try disputing them. Don't even try. But all indisputable radical fanciness aside, there is something even more radical, even more fancy, and only slightly more indisputable that we at TGC have begun using. It's a new tool to keep the fine members of The Game Cookery informed about the latest and greatest happenings, a weekly newsletter. It's 100% opt-in, and can be signed up for on the main site. No more will you be receiving messages like this from the meetup group. No longer will your file-deleting trigger finger be exercised to the point of permanent cartilage damage upon sight of said messages. Yes, the meetup page will now be permanently used only for its calendar stylings. So, if all you care about is our scheduling madness (now twice weekly because we're crazy), just keep on doing what you're doing. But, if you're like me and you can't get enough juicy Game Cookery info, then hop on over to TGC and sign up for the newsletter. Oh, and we have a new comments section... Hooray for comments! Let me know if you have any questions, and I hope to see you this weekend! ~ Rob "
